Oxford University Press Headlines New Group of Content Publishers

New York, NY, March 14, 2012 - Ten leading academic publishers, including Oxford University Press, the largest university press in the world, have signed deals to distribute significant amounts of their content through AcademicPub™, the leading provider of print and digital custom course materials to the U.S. higher education market.

Caroline Vanderlip, CEO of AcademicPub™ parent company, SharedBook Inc., made the announcement.

Launched in April 2011, AcademicPub now counts 123 publishers in its content library, which collectively make available more than 2.5 million units of content for use on campus.

In addition to Oxford University Press, nine other respected academic publishers came on board today with AcademicPub. They are: Focus Publishing/R. Pullins Co., Happy About Publishers, IGI Global Publishing, Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Left Coast Press, Open Doors Group, Samfundslitteratur, Wayne State University Press and Wesleyan University Press. A complete list of publishers in the AcademicPub Content Library may be found here

"The level of interest in how to reinvent higher education textbooks and other course materials is high and growing," said Vanderlip. "All of the elements are in place for a major shakeup of the market, and what AcademicPub offers is at the center of each and every conversation."

Vanderlip explained that many students - and now instructors - are looking for alternatives to traditional textbooks, to gain greater portability, flexibility and currency. In the social sciences for instance, the fast-evolving nature of political and cultural developments is driving the need for more current course materials. And with the growth of e-readers coming at the same time that many students are realizing the nuanced differences between reading and studying, there is a growing consensus that platform-neutral content, available via print or any number and type of devices, is critical to a satisfying and productive academic experience.
