AcademicPub's Custom Solution Now Deployable for Publishers

"White-Label" Offering Enables Every Academic Publisher - No Matter Its Size - to Offer State-of-the-Art Solution within Days, Five Publishers Now In Program

New York, NY, January 18, 2012 - AcademicPub™, the leading provider of custom books - print and digital - for higher education, today announced four additional "white-label" agreements with academic publishers who serve the college and university market, enabling these publishing partners to provide multiple options for sales and fulfillment to their customers.

Caroline Vanderlip, CEO of AcademicPub parent, SharedBook Inc, made the announcement.

Attracted by AcademicPub's custom branding choices, pricing control capability, print or e-book fulfillment and specialized work-flow support, three premier units of Taylor & Francis - CRC Press, a publisher of scientific and technical work; Garland Science, a specialist in developing life-science textbooks; and Routledge, a 160-year-old provider of quality academic books and journals for the humanities and social sciences - today signed white-label deals with the higher education unit of SharedBook Inc.

Lynne Rienner, known for its cutting-edge scholarly books, textbooks and journals in politics, social sciences and the humanities, is also white-labelling the AcademicPub platform, effective Feb 1.

At the 2011 Frankfurt Book Fair, AcademicPub announced its first white-label deal with Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, a partnership now successfully in operation.

"Custom publishing in higher education has until now been dominated by the handful of large companies who can afford internal software development and who can outlast their own very slow time to market," said Vanderlip. "Our white-label solution is a game changer. Within a few weeks, we can cost effectively make any publisher's content available through a custom platform. This capability turns old business models on their head and saves real money, which ultimately inures to the benefit of both the publishers and the students they are serving."

Added Vanderlip: "Our message to faculty members has always been simple: your book, your way. Their response to us has also been straightforward: we want lower prices and up-to-the-minute materials for our students. With our white-label capability gaining traction, the stage is set for rapid adoption of our offering. Professors can now marry their own materials with a specific publisher's content, and with material from the Web writ large, making it faster and easier for them to prepare and to teach."
